Upload the certificate of authority for a signer who is not a control person or owner.
Use this endpoint to upload a certificate of authority: the document showing that the signer is authorized to bind the company. It's required when the signer's relationship is NEITHER; until it's uploaded, CERTIFICATE_OF_AUTHORITY appears in readiness.missing.
Part of Supporting documents. For how this fits into onboarding, see the guide: Collecting company information: certificate of authority.
Send the file as multipart/form-data in a part named file.
| Rule | Detail |
|---|---|
| Format | A PDF. |
| Size | Up to 25 MB, and not empty. |
| Replacing | Uploading again replaces the certificate; earlier versions are kept as history. |
When you can call this
The certificate is signed outside the hosted experience and doesn't appear on the contract documents, so you can upload it any time while the onboarding is a DRAFT, including after the documents are signed. The company must already have a signer.
After the onboarding is submitted, a replacement is sent as the answer to a DOCUMENT_NEEDED request instead (see Fulfill a request with a file).
